One Hundred and Fifty Years On

Beatrix Potter was born on the 28th July 1866. She was one of the world’s best-loved children’s authors, who captured the imagination of both adults and children alike for over 100 years with her wonderful illustrated Tales.

The Lake District in the north of England has the most beautiful scenery. This is one of the reasons why Beatrix Potter moved from London to make her home there in adult life.

Enjoy this Clip from the BBC Countryfile programme with Matt Baker as he explores the life and times of Beatrix Potter, including how she came to write such wonderful stories and how she, in her later years, became a very successful Farmer who eventually entrusted much of her land to the National Trust which organisation she help to found.
